Apologies to all that it has been a while since my last post.
The good news is that I finished the study guide for becoming an Internet Research Specialist. The “different” news is that I have decided at this time not to become an Internet Research Specialist. As you can see on the home page, I have learned, by reading through the study guide actually, that being a Proofreader is what I was always meant to be. 🙂
I always notice spelling and grammar errors. I proofread my boyfriend’s Facebook posts before he sends them if I am near him at the time. My Mom used to ask me for help spelling while I was growing up. I have always loved to read (albeit I don’t buy books as much as I used to and I feel bad about that). I also enjoy taking grammar and spelling tests for fun. Thinking that definitely puts me in the “proofread mindset” category.
I found a no-nonsense proofreading course for a fraction (not kidding) of what some of the proofreading courses are going for out there. I was able to read through the course today (in less than a day). I have already taken the author’s suggestion and signed up to volunteer with a large proofreading project. I have even done some proofreading already! 😀
I will keep you up to date with my proofreading journey. I am anxious to see what the more experienced proofreaders with my volunteer work think about my first pages. I am supposed to find out via email. I will let you know. 😉
